About Us & Our Services

What exactly do you do?

We provide independent, CQC-aligned audits of care plans, risk assessments, and overall care practices, as well as support with drafting, reviewing, and improving care plans.
Our goal is to ensure that every care plan accurately reflects each individual’s needs, risks, and personal wishes, while helping care providers meet regulatory requirements and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and person-centred care.
Whether you need a detailed audit, ongoing care plan support, or guidance to strengthen your care provision, we offer tailored services to give families and care teams confidence that care is delivered safely and effectively.

Do you work for CQC, the care home or the family?

We work independently, meaning we are not tied to any care home group.
We can be engaged by families to support their loved one, or by care providers seeking an honest external audit to improve their service. We help families and care homes prepare for CQC expectations, but we do not inspect or enforce.

What makes you different from other audit companies?

Unlike larger agencies, CarePlan Assurance focuses specifically on care plan quality, resident voice, safeguarding, and CQC-aligned improvement —
with a personal, compassionate approach that puts the individual’s dignity at the centre of everything we do.

Do you offer support for both residential and nursing homes?

Yes, we support all types of care settings, including residential and nursing homes.

Do you provide training for care staff on care planning best practice?

Yes. We offer staff training sessions focused on person-centred care planning, risk management, compliance, dementia care, and related topics.
Training can be delivered remotely or onsite and is tailored to your service and resident population. Sessions are priced at £250 per session for up to 12 staff and are designed to provide practical, real-world guidance that staff can apply immediately.

Confidentiality & Compliance

Is your service confidential?

Absolutely. All audits, reports, and consultations are handled with complete confidentiality.
We follow strict data protection (GDPR) policies to protect all personal information.

Will your audit guarantee a good CQC rating?

We cannot guarantee a CQC outcome — no external auditor can —
but by following our independent advice, care homes can significantly strengthen their compliance, risk management, and quality standards.

Are your recommendations aligned with current CQC standards?

Yes, our audits use the latest CQC Single Assessment Framework.

How do you help if a care plan fails to meet regulations?

We provide clear, actionable feedback and step-by-step improvement plans, plus follow-up support to help implement changes.

Can you provide evidence for CQC inspections or staff meetings?

Our audit reports are structured around CQC requirements and provide clear, evidence-based findings that can support your internal meetings and inspection preparation, though we do not act as an official inspection authority. These reports help demonstrate care plan quality and compliance.

How do you handle disagreements between family members and care providers?

We take a calm, independent, and evidence-based approach. Our role is not to mediate disputes, but to review care documentation objectively against regulatory requirements, best practice, and the individual’s assessed needs.
Where disagreements exist, our audits and care plan reviews provide clear, neutral findings that help all parties understand what is required to meet standards and support the person receiving care. We follow recommendations from relevant clinical professionals and do not add to or amend clinical information, ensuring decisions are grounded in professional guidance rather than opinion.

How Audits Work

How long does an audit take?

Most individual care plan audits are completed within 5 working days of receiving the documents.
Larger care home audits may vary slightly based on the number of plans reviewed. Services & Pricing

Can you audit risk assessments and safeguarding practices too?

Yes, our audits include risk management, mental capacity assessments, and safeguarding practices to help ensure compliance and safety.

Can we request an audit for a single resident’s care plan?

Yes, our audits can be tailored to individual care plans as well as full home-wide reviews.

Do you offer remote audits or only on-site visits?

We offer both on-site and remote audit options.

What exactly do you review in a care plan audit?

We review care plans, risk assessments, daily care records, and capacity decisions to ensure they are person-centred, accurate, and meet required standards.

Care Plan Writing & Improvement

Can you help us rewrite care plans too?

Yes! We offer care plan drafting and improvement services — helping families or homes create clear, person-centred plans that meet CQC standards.
Final clinical sign-off always remains with the registered care provider.

How do you ensure care plans reflect residents’ wishes and preferences?

Our audits and improvement services focus on person-centred care, making sure each plan reflects the resident’s unique needs, preferences, and daily lived experience.

Do you provide templates or guidance for care staff?

Yes. We offer Care Plan Template Development, creating bespoke templates tailored to your resident population, care approach, and regulatory requirements.
This service includes consultation and one revision, with additional revisions available if needed. Templates are designed to support consistent, person-centred, and compliant care planning across your service.

Can you help with care plans for children, adults, or people with complex needs, multiple conditions, or medications?

Yes. We support care plan drafting and improvement for individuals with a wide range of care needs, including complex conditions.
Our audits and writing services are designed to ensure care plans are fully person-centred and accurately reflect all identified needs and risks. We follow guidance and care plans provided by the clinical professionals already involved and do not create or alter clinical instructions. If you are seeking support for a child’s care plan, please contact us to discuss how we can tailor our services to your situation.

How do you involve residents or families?

Our work is rooted in person-centred care. We ensure that care plans clearly reflect the individual’s wishes, preferences, routines, and lived experience, as documented by the care provider and shared by families where appropriate.

Where possible, we will sit with the individual and their family or key worker to support meaningful personalisation. This can be done either in person or remotely, depending on circumstances and preferences.

When engaged by families, we listen carefully to their concerns and ensure these are reflected appropriately within the care documentation, while remaining aligned with professional assessments, clinical guidance, and regulatory standards.
